A new and versatile closed circuit anaesthetic machine with automatic and manual ventilation.

چکیده
A versatile new anaesthetic machine embodying a ventilator with automatic and manual closed circuits, and with provision for semi-open circuits is described. The ventilator follows the principle of volume and time cycling and generally requires only a low flow of fresh gases (about 2 l./min). It is based on the original Smith-Clarke intermittent positive/ negative pressure respirator and is both simple and practical. It is intended later to present a further paper describing clinical experience with this machine.

Error assessment in man-machine systems using the CREAM method and human-in-the-loop fault tree analysis
Background and Objectives: Despite contribution to catastrophic accidents, human errors have been generally ignored in the design of human-machine (HM) systems and the determination of the level of automation (LOA). This paper aims to develop a method to estimate the level of automation in the early stage of the design phase considering both human and machine performance. Methods: A quantita...
متن کاملAnaesthesia Breathing Systems
Anaesthesia Breathing System (formerly known as anaesthesia Breathing Apparatus or Anaesthesia Breathing Circuit) is an interface between the anaesthetic machine and the patient. They evolved over 160 years from the open systems used by Morton to the present day closed systems using carbon dioxide absorbents. The main purpose of these systems is to deliver the required oxygen and anaesthetic ga...
متن کاملA Fast, Robust, Automatic Blink Detector
Introduction “Blink” is defined as closing and opening of the eyes in a small duration of time. In this study, we aimed to introduce a fast, robust, vision-based approach for blink detection. Materials and Methods This approach consists of two steps. In the first step, the subject’s face is localized every second and with the first blink, the system detects the eye’s location and creates an ope...
متن کاملComparison of three manual ventilation devices using an intubated mannequin.
OBJECTIVE To compare three devices for manual neonatal ventilation. DESIGN Participants performed a two minute period of ventilation using a self inflating device, an anaesthesia bag with attached manometer, and a Neopuff device. An intubated neonatal mannequin, approximating a 1 kg infant with functional lungs, was used for the study. Target ventilation variables included a rate of 40 breath...
متن کاملAutomatic road crack detection and classification using image processing techniques, machine learning and integrated models in urban areas: A novel image binarization technique
The quality of the road pavement has always been one of the major concerns for governments around the world. Cracks in the asphalt are one of the most common road tensions that generally threaten the safety of roads and highways. In recent years, automated inspection methods such as image and video processing have been considered due to the high cost and error of manual metho...
